Match Review: Manchester United 1-0 Brentford
United responded well after three goalless fixtures in a row & climb back into the top four. Welcoming Brentford to the Theatre of Dreams seeking revenge for the humiliation put on them back in August at the start of Erik ten Hag's reign.
The home side started strong, pressing with intensity alongside a very high line.
United bossed the opening proceedings with over 80% possession at times. Having had chances but struggling to hit the target, United finally found the breakthrough just before the half hour mark.
A chip back over Brentford's defensive line from Antony as a result of a corner saw Marcel Sabitzer's cushioned header smashed into the roof of the net from none other than Marcus Rashford. The Englishman did well to stay onside as he put his side infront from 10 yards out on the half-volley. United's first goal since clinching the Carabao Cup over a month ago.
Worryingly, Luke Shaw was replaced by Tyrell Malacia before the break. The left-back was seen clutching his hamstring momentarily. Fans will be hoping it was more of a precautionary substitution as they cannot afford to lose such a vital player at this stage of the season.
From a poor goal kick, Brentford broke quickly with Ivan Toney playing through Brentford's second half substitute, Kevin Schade, leaving him one on one with De Gea. The Spaniard stood up well closing down the angles for the German striker but took a clattering as a result.
From what should've been a comfortable victory with the amount of possession & chances United had the home side made it difficult for themselves inviting more & more pressure from Brentford the longer the second half went.
United started the second half like the did the first, on the front foot and creating chances, something alien to them against Newcastle at the weekend. The home side kept Brentford on the back foot with quick one-two link ups and one touch passes to continue to dictate the tempo of the game.

We need to start scoring more than one goal. I’m not still happy with the performance.

Without De Gea saving that this game could have been a draw. Great win though! #MUNBRE #MUFC #PremierLeague
